Couch to 5K
You get two blogs today, lucky duck.
This one will be a quickie though.
(Side note: If you giggled at the word “quickie,” you’re my kind of people. Gutter brains, unite!)
So. I have been thinking a lot about my total lack of running ability displayed ever-so-obviously in the game last night. I have also been thinking about my bucket list, where I said I want to run a half marathon. It is depressing, to say the least, that within a year after having Lily I was a totally fit, going to the gym, size four hottie mchotness and now I can barely run a soccer field.
I get that I just had twins. I know, I should be more patient with myself. But, I finally feel more normal than I have since I got pregnant with them, and I’m ready to get my rear in shape.
Since I kind of feel like I need to start at square one, I’m going to follow the Couch to 5K regimen.
Baby steps. Itty bitty baby steps.
I don’t know how I’m going to fit it into my day. I don’t know if it’ll mean running when Clint gets home from work or waking up before everyone to do it in the morning, but I need to do something. I don’t want to be out of shape anymore. It doesn’t feel very awesome.
Anyone with me?
UPDATE: Almost immediately after writing this blog, the stars aligned and I was able to go out for 30 minutes and run (thanks to a super awesome teenage babysitter!!). I realized that the first week of the Couch to 5K is far too easy… Jog 60 seconds Walk 90 seconds, so I went for more like Jog 70 or 80 seconds, Walk 60 seconds. I really could’ve jogged more than that, but I didn’t want to push myself too hard and never want to do it again.
So, day one of Couch to 5K done. *High five!*
