Sick Day & A Face Injury
Last night and this morning have been rough. It started off well, though. Clint and I had a lovely time ignoring our To Do list. We watched a stand-up comedy show, sipped on yummy beverages, and then retired to the bedroom to slip into something a little more naked… only to be greeted by the sound of Zander screaming. He has a cold, but he also took a spill yesterday that raked up his nose, so every time he tried to rub his nose, it hurt. Plus, I think his ear was bothering him because he kept tugging at it.
The next hour was spent trying to calm him down and get him back to sleep. Thankfully, this is a rare occurrence in our house, because it was exhausting and in the end, we fell asleep (fully clothed).
At 5 freaking a.m. Lily woke up and started talking in her high-pitched girly squeal about goodness knows what, which woke the twins up. I whined to Clint that I wasn’t feeling well and he battled the trio back to their bedroom as best he could, but it was a lost cause. They were wide awake. And my throat was killing me. It still is. It’s now 11:30am and I’m in my pajamas. The TV has been on all morning and I’ve secured my brood and I in the back of the house so I could drift in and out of consciousness on the couch while they try to sit on my head, pull my hair, and poke at my nose.
I begged Clint to come home from work early, if he could swing it.
He’s going to be home in the next hour.
It looks like my To Do list is going to be ignored for another day. I often wonder if we’re designed to get sick because sometimes that’s the only thing that will make us stop and take care of ourselves. It’s really the only time you don’t feel guilty for sleeping in and ignoring all other responsibilities, isn’t it? Interesting… I think maybe I need to schedule some un-sick sick days into my calendar.
P.S. I’m not one to photograph my kids’ injuries, but this one is simply impressive. Zander knows that chicks dig scars… I think he’s trying to get one for himself as soon as possible.
