Whew, this has been quite a transition for all of us. Clint played stay-at-home-dad for a couple of weeks, then, last Thursday we started the kiddos in daycare. Clint was home for Thursday and Friday so we could do a first-run of how daycare will work without him having to also start his first day at his new job. Then, Monday, he became a working man again, I continued on my job, the kids continued at daycare, and Colby started a new Kindergarten class at the daycare center.

Day Four of Clint’s Unemployment: It’s just a normal Saturday.

It struck me this morning how today seemed totally normal. Clint was home, but he was supposed to be home, since it’s Saturday. Our family dynamic was the same as it usually is on Saturday. It all seemed comfortingly normal. It helped that we had distractions all day long. Mine started first thing.

Day Three of Clint’s Unemployment: The Day of Hope

Despite a momentary sob-fest at Bible Study this morning, today was pretty tear-free for both Clint and me. Thankfully, today was quite the opposite of sad. Today, we found some hope.

Every November for the past few years, I have made it a point to post one thing I’m thankful for every (okay, almost every) day. First, it was Facebook posts, then last year I turned it into blog posts. It has been good for me, particularly in the month that begins the holiday season, to make it a point to find one thing I’m thankful for each day.

Here’s the back story:

Wyatt and Zander have decided that they’d rather play than nap at naptime. They’ve been crazy. There have been more poop stories. They’ve been jumping around the room and falling off of the bed. It has been stressful, especially since two two-year-olds minus naps equals craaanky toddlers in the evening.

You rule. (Yeah, you.)

I have never been a part of such a unique job interview process as the one for Verity Mom has been. It has been so well organized, thought out, and executed. Everything about it screams professional, fun, and unique… I love it.

My hip has been bugging me for nearly a month for apparently no reason. It started getting progressively worse and was even waking me up at night. It was at that point, I decided a trip to the chiropractor was in order. Now, I haven’t been to the chiro since I was in a car accident 10 years ago, but this guy came highly recommended from a friend of mine and anyway, I know firsthand how well chiropractic work makes me feel.

Sometimes, I get glimpses of my life and my children; glimpses of what’s to come. Glimpses that give me hope that Clint and I are on the right track in our parenting. Despite nearly a week of all of us being stuck at home with a nasty virus, despite the fact that we’ve been at each other’s throats because we’re so stir crazy, I had some huge glimpses today.
